Rhythm heuristic testing, Where music and testing join forces

Hobbies are good for relaxing the brain. Audio is one of mine together with playing the drum.  After the Rapid Software Testing training from Michael Bolton I found heuristics and techniques like the blink test very useful. As an drummer I do often a rhythmic test on keyboard and or  mouse. For a few years now I use it as an technique to improve the repeatability of random testing.

The technique is quite simple use a rhythm like 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, etc. Press the tab button on 1 and 2 and the spacebar and enter button on 3 and 4. While combining all kinds of rhythms you get all kinds or repeatable test. Play the rhythm for 20 times and you find this error when you start at this point is what your reproducible steps are to reproduce a certain error.

You do not know what you test or what you will not test on forehand but I found it a nice additional heuristic and called it the rhythm test heuristic .

One of my favorite rhythms is tab tab space tab tab enter in combination with tab tab arrow  ctrl-tab  ctrl-tab enter. What is yours?
